Art Quilt Explorations III

Thursday October 6th, 7pm
Corner Gallery (actually next door at Art Center Ukiah), 201 S. State St.

The evening will begin with a brief sharing of our individual work. All members of MQA and Rag Taggers are invited to bring a finished project to show the group.

Speaker:  Anne Beckett, textile artist will lead us in a  discussion on the critique process. This will be a workshop in which we will be learning about how to see our quilts from a design and composition perspective. We will need approximately 3-4  artists who will present a project that is unfinished and would like to get constructive feedback regarding this work. It would be preferable to have 2 people from MQA and 2 from Rag Tag Quilters.

Closing:  Comments on what was inspiring from audience. How will this make a difference in your work in the future? What will you take home from the evening?

Ideas for the next Art Quilt Explorations #4, April 5, 2012.

We encourage anyone who is interested in art quilts are to attend.

Winners

From our Edge Project, started at our retreat on the Mendocino coast in February, Ann Horton, Joyce Paterson and Renee Gannon collaborated on and produced three quilts that hang together and tell a story.  The story is about cats and birds and is in the folk art style.  They have just learned that their quilts are winners in the group category in Houston at the International Quilt Festival.  We don't know yet where they placed, but it's a cash prize.  We're so proud.

Out on a Limb

And in other news of winnings, Ann has scored several more big wins at shows all over the country.  Congratulations to all our winners.
